Levy the Fly

0

Levy, the fat and flagrant fly
Known to flout and to defy
Heaved a long and grateful sigh
His flight had been so dull and dry
And now he sensed the time was nigh
To put some ointment in the fly!
He landed on a chair nearby
And waited for his sister Di
To re-appear from her Bonsai
Where she was prone to go and lie
He analysed with cautious eye
A large and hungry-looking guy
At the table quite close by
Boy, did that picture magnify!
His chin and neck did unify
And formed a trunk down to his thigh
Now Levy wasn’t one to pry
But focused with his compound eye
He watched the man point finger high
To call the waiter passing by
He ordered cream and apple pie
The waiter stopped to clarify
Levy, so famished he could cry,
Could hardly wait to have a try
His taste buds didn’t specify
The food just had to satisfy
But now his feast was drawing nigh
His hunger did intensify
The waiter came with plate held high
There seemed to be a large supply
The man would soon be high on pie
But just a crumb would pacify
The ravenous pangs of small Levy
He circled slowly in the sky
And landed softly in the pie
The man, quick to identify
This big black blob – this cheeky fly
Did all he could to stupefy
With all the force he could apply
To ultimately nullify
This insect that would multiply
And so he did disqualify
The cream, the pie and our Levy
But soon arrived his sister Di
Just in time to sanctify
The carcass of her Brother Fly
She kept on asking “Why, oh why?
Most people couldn’t kill a fly”
Not to mention mortify
Her little brother – Poor Levy !
