Becky the Queen of the honey bees
She’s all you’d expect from the famous “bee’s knees”
Surrounded by thousands of celibate lasses
A privileged status among love-hungry masses
A few hundred males are exclusively kept
Just for mating, at which she is rather adept
She’s no other use for these men in her life
And limits her routine to breed as a wife
While she carries on there’s an army of workers
All actively functioning, cos they don’t support shirkers
Her entourage feed her in Spring with Royal Jelly
To build up her vigour and satiate her belly
Her small life is threatened by extermination
Through pesticides’ ominous wide propagation
She’s served with a cocktail of pollen and nectar
To nurture and act as her dietary protector
Honey bees are resilient and live all the year round
Thanks to a strict life that keeps their feet on the ground
In winter the bees cluster tightly together
And quiver their wings to keep warm in cold weather
The honey they harvest together in May
Allows their survival without any affray
The queen is pedantic, that her hive’s clean throughout
And only lays eggs where there’s no dirt about
There’s no reservation in anyone’s mind
The Queen keeps her workers hard to the grind
She is the CEO of a flawless institution
Our lives would be much worse without her selfless contribution
One of the bees’ most valued deeds is dynamic pollination
And food we eat can be ascribed to their determination
Her formidable effort ensures that we can all survive
We enjoy a choice of food that means that we can also thrive
Our thanks go out to Becky and her bustling colony
If only we could bee<\/strong> like that – in perfect harmony
Our relation to our planet needs a change of attitude
To show our little Becky our total gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
